A Cozy Powell In-Home Lifestyle Newborn Session with Baby Martin

I first photographed LeaAnna and Michael together for their maternity photos at Seven Islands State Park. Once little Martin arrived, I came to their beautiful Powell, TN home for an in-home lifestyle newborn photo session. 

LeaAnna wanted a little extra support the morning of her session, so hair and makeup came to her before we started. It’s one of my favorite add-ons for newborn sessions when you want to feel a little more ready for photos without having to pack up your baby or even leave the house. 

It’s not lost on me that newborn photos are often the first time new moms get dressed up again after giving birth and I work to make the experience feel as easy as possible. LeaAnna was absolutely glowing despite being only a handful of days postpartum. 

The morning was cozy and slow in all the best ways. Little baby Martin was so relaxed and drifted off multiple times in his parents arms as we chatted about all things newborn. 

We started their Powell in-home lifestyle newborn session in the master bedroom which brought warm and intimate vibes to their images.

One of the things I love most about in-home newborn photography is capturing your family right where this season of postpartum is actually happening. You don’t need a perfect home or a finished nursery. You just need your family and a space to connect.

After a while, we migrated to the nursery. The glider by the window was the perfect place for some quiet photos and sweet moments. When Martin got hungry towards the end of the session, LeaAnna nursed him while I photographed some of the sweetest moments of connection between them.

Creating Baby’s First Year Album

This sweet lifestyle newborn session is only one chapter of a much bigger story that we’re capturing for LeaAnna, Michael, and Martin. 

We started with maternity photos before he was born, continued with his in-home newborn session, and we will also preserve the rest of his first year with 3, 6, 9, and 12 month milestones. 

At the end of Martin’s first year, these sessions will come together in a bump to baby album that tells the full story from pregnancy to his first birthday. 

These first year albums are some of my favorite pieces to create for families because they turn that incredibly fast first year into a beautiful and tangible keepsake. These albums can be completely customized around the sessions and milestones you want to document, along with the album size, cover fabric, and final image selections.

Instead of letting these photos live only on an old phone or dusty hard drive, a bump to baby album gives your family a finished piece of your story. One day little Martin will sit on LeaAnna’s lap and point at the photos with glee and years from now, he may even show it to his own children.
